X’ vexes Chinook

X' vexes Chinook

A white X has appeared in downtown Chinook.

Assistant Police Chef Elmer Zarn asked the Chinook City Council about the white X painted on the street at 4th and Indiana streets during Thursday's meeting.

The council knew nothing about the X and its origins.

Jim Teel, Chinook street supervisor, knew nothing about it why it was there.

Teel said he had contacted the Montana Department of Transportation about it, and they knew nothing.

The X appeared Friday afternoon in front of Finley's Food Farm, when witnesses reported a white utility van stopped and painted it.

Teel speculated it was for some kind of aerial photography.

Others at the council meeting reported seeing similar Xs in other parts of Chinook.
