BARBARA RATHBUN obituary

Memor-ial services were 11 a.m. Monday at the Gildford Baptist Church. Burial of ashes will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Havre. Arrangements are by Rockman Funeral Chapel of Chester. Barb was born Feb. 27, 1932, at Chinook, to Estel and Cecelia Murphy. She received her education at Chinook, then began college in Havre. In 1951 she enlisted in the U. S. Army. After her discharge, she finished college in Havre and began teaching school. In 1956, she moved to California. In 1958, she married Frank Zabaleta. They had two children. Barb taught school at Bakersfield and helped her husband run the Blackboard nightclub. Frank died in 1976. Barb reunited with a Montana friend, Reuben Sande, and they were wed in 1977. Reuben died in 1979. Barb's third marriage was to Robert Rathbun in 1980. They farmed at Hingham and lived in Gildford. Barb was an avid antique collector and enjoyed writing poetry and painting. She loved animals, especially dogs, cats and horses. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Bob Rathbun of Gildford; two children, Frank Zabaleta of Redlands, Calif., and Kitty Zabaleta of Long Beach, Calif.; two stepchildren, Bill Rathbun and Bev Groseclose, both of Hingham; one brother, Ronald Murphy of Spokane, Wash.; and eight grandchildren.
