Brent Elliott Cresswell, 49, of Portland, Ore., died Aug. 28, 2010, at OHSU Hospital from mature peripheral t-cell lymphoma.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of Brent's life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, at 4:30 p.m., at the Fifth Avenue Christian Church in Havre, with Pastor Rowlie Hutton officiating.

A fellowship luncheon will follow immediately after the service at the church. Internment of ashes at a public service will be held at the Harlem Cemetery at 3 p.m.

Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.

Brent was born on Aug. 8, 1961, in Havre to Rayford and Olive (Reed) Cresswell. He was the youngest of nine children. Brent attended school in Harlem and Turner, graduating from Harlem High School in 1980. He graduated with honors from Eastern Montana College in Billings with a bachelor's degree in education.

He taught special education in Great Falls and Kelso, Wash. He then moved to Spokane, Wash., and attended Spokane Community College studying respiratory therapy. Brent was a nationally certified respiratory Ttherapist, working at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane. He later moved to work in Bellingham and the Seattle area. Brent married Georjette Nue in October 1992 at the Cataldo Mission Church in Idaho. They later divorced. He married Marina Schock on Nov. 22, 2004, at the Shelburn Inn in Seaview, Wash. Brent and Marina lived in Seattle after their wedding, but later moved to Salem, Ore. In Salem, Brent retired from respiratory therapy and started a small pet-sitting business so he could stay home to care for their son, Cooper born in 2008. When Brent was diagnosed with cancer, they moved to Portland to pursue specialized treatment. Brent is survived by his wife, Marina; his beloved son, Cooper, at the family home in Portland, Ore.; mother, Olive Cresswell Watson of Havre; brothers, Rayford Cresswell of Leesburg, Ga., Roger (Jane) Cresswell of Nine Mile Falls, Wash., Jim (Peggy) Cresswell of Shepherd, Mont., Lannie (Carla) Cresswell of Detroit Lakes, Minn.; sisters, Norma Ketchum of Pueblo, Colo., Millie (Roger) Weers of Stevensville, Mont., Laura (Russell) Ritter of Prosser, Wash., Marcia (Warren) Wickum of Chester, Mont.; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and special friends, Jim and Diane Jenks of Lakeside and family.
