STEVEN B. PARSONS obituary

Steven B. Parsons, 64, a resident of Chinook, Mont., and retired railroad conductor, passed away Saturday, Feb. 5, 2010, of natural causes at the Northern Montana Care Center in Havre. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, at the Fifth Avenue Christian Church in Havre with Rowlie Hutton officiating. Memorial contributions in Steve's honor may be made to the Community Effort Camp Group at Beaver Creek Park or to a memorial of one's choice. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. Steve was born Oct. 24, 1945, in Havre, to Clayton and Lorraine Parsons. He was raised and educated in Havre, graduating from Havre High School in 1964. Steve joined the U.S. Navy on Nov. 22, 1965, and was in the telecommunications field during the Vietnam War. On Sept. 16, 1969, Steve was honorably discharged from the Navy. After returning home, he began working for the Burlington Northern Railroad as a brakeman and then a conductor. In 1983, Steve married Pamela Murphy, and the couple had two children Shane and Shilo. In 2007 Steve and Pamela divorced though always remained close friends. Steve enjoyed spending time with his children, hunting, fishing and camping with "the crew" at Beaver Creek Park. One thing about Stevie that we'll remember is that through all the "rigamarole" he certainly made a lot of people smile! He was preceded in death by his mother, Lorraine Parsons. Steve is survived by his son, Shane Parsons of Chinook, Mont .; his daughter, Shilo (Joseph) Howland of Fort Lewis, Wash .; his father, Clayton Parsons of the Sweet Nursing Home in Chinook'; his brothers, Gary (Janna) Parsons of Mill Creek, Wash., and David Parsons of Missoula; his sisters, Janet (Niles) Bauer of Littleton, Colo., and Carol (Ken) Habeger of Havre, Mont .; several nieces and nephews and their children.
