Skylights have three players named All Conference

Three Montana State University- Northern women's basketball players have been honored by the Frontier Conference for their outstanding play this season. On Monday night, the league released its annual Frontier All-Conference Team, and three Skylights made the list. The Skylights had two players in juniors Zivile Gaizutyte and Samm Schermele make the first team. Gaizutyte led the Frontier in rebounding while averaging a doubledouble at 12 points and 11 rebounds per game. She also led the league in double- doubles this season. Schermele, a two-time all-conference selection from Great Falls, finished the season averaging 16 points five rebounds and four assists per game. She finished third in the Frontier in scoring, and it was her second straight year finishing in the top five in the league in that category. MSU-N junior point guard Taylor Keller was named to the second team also making her a two-time all league pick. Keller led the Skylights in assists and also averaged just under 11 points per game while shooting better than 33 percent from 3-point range. Rounding out the first team was Alysha Green and Alex Dunn of Carroll College, Alyssa Fierro and jasmine Stohr of Lewis-Clark State, Jessie De- Pell and Taesha Higbee of Montana Tech, Molly Schenderline of Rocky Mountain College and Keisha Catten, McKenzie Jessop and Nicole Yazzie of Westminster College. The second team featured Elly Bruursema of Carroll, Kenna Reiter and Kirsi Voshell of LC State, Janessa Todd of Tech, Kristen Luedtke of UM-Western, Adrienne Green of RMC and Allie Eastman of Westminster. Jessop was named league MVP and the Defensive Player of the Year. Higbee was selected Newcomer of the Year and Yazzie earned Freshman of the Year. Westminster's J.D. Gustin was selected as Coach of the Year.
