Northern names provost

Havre's university has made a selection for the new provost and vice chancellor at the institution, it announced this morning. Montana State University- Northern said Rosalyn Anstine Templeton has accepted its offer for the position, with her official start date June 14. Chancellor Frank Trocki complimented the search committee that sifted through 70 candidates to find someone to take the position when Joe Callahan retires, effective July 1. "It was a monumental task to ferret out the best of the best, and we believe we have found the best person for the job," Trocki said in a press release. "Dr. Templeton brings a new vision for the academic group and she is very capable and competent to lead our faculty. She will set the bar very high and will work diligently at all levels to define new programs for the university. "He r re f e renc e s included the president and the vice president of academic affairs at Marshall University," Trocki added. "They ranked her as an outstanding individual who is ready to take on a significant leadership role at the academy." The provost and vice chancellor at Northern is second-in-command to the chancellor, and primarily is in charge of the academic programs at the university, working closely with faculty and staff and the students. Templeton, a 25-year administrator, has served as the executive dean for the College of Education and Human Services at Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va., since July 2005. She earned her Bachelor of Science in elementary education learning disabilities and reading from Southern Oregon University, and her Master of Education in emotional disorders at the American University and her doctorate from the University of Oregon. Templeton served in administrative positions at Ferris University in Big Rapids, Mich., Ferris State University, Bradley University in Peoria, Ill., and has taught at Marshall University, Ferris State University, Bradley University, and Willamette University in Salem, Ore.
