NORMA C. PLASCENCIA obituary

Norma C. Plascencia, 60, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, at Northern Montana Hospital of natural causes. Her wake service began Monday. Her funeral service was 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010, all at Rocky Boy Catholic Church, with Pastor Linda Webster officiating. Burial will follow at the Rocky Boy Cemetery. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. Norma was born June 17, 1949, in Fort Belknap, Mont., to Dave LaMere and Eunice Mitchell. She grew up in Great Falls and Rocky Boy, Mont. She attended elementary school in Great Falls, and received her GED at the Great Falls Vo-Tech. She graduated at the top of her class while attending chef school at Great Falls College of Technology. In the summer of 1970, she married Candido Plascencia Sr. In Kellogg, Idaho. The couple lived in Kellogg, Idaho, Great Falls, Mont., and Spokane, Wash. Norma worked at the Rocky Boy schools as the head cook and at the Senior Citizens Center at Rocky Boy. She had to retire due to her health. On June 9, 2000, Norma had a kidney transplant. The kidney was donated by her sister, Renee Denny. Norma enjoyed reading, watching cooking shows, playing bingo, going to the casino and baking things at home. She also loved all types of music. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Kenneth LaMere; and two nephews, Jack LaMere Jr. And Kevin Denny. Norma is survived by her two sons; Alejandro Plascencia Sr. Of Rocky Boy, Mont .; Candido Plascencia Jr. Of Missoula, Mont .; her daughter, Sharon Birchfield of Spokane, Wash .; her adopted granddaughter, Tashina LaMere of Rocky Boy, Mont .; sisters, Sharon (Ervin) Watson and Renee Denny, both of Rocky Boy, Mont .; Martha Mae Mitchell of Box Elder, Mont .; step-sisters, Kathy and Iris Murphy of Great Falls, Mont .; brothers, Jack (Caroline) LaMere of Spokane, Wash., Gary (Donna) Lamere of Great Falls, Mont., and Jimmy Cleland of Box Elder, Mont .; step-brothers, Mickey and Peanut Murphy of Great Falls, Mont .; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
