Little Shell leaders respond to âdistortionsâ

January 19, 2010

The Little Shell Tribal Council feels it needs to comment on the actions of the splinter group calling itself the Little Shell Alliance. We encourage all Little Shell people to ignore mailings from the Little Shell Alliance. This group has used a combination of distortions and false accusations causing confusion among Little Shell members in an attempt to get them to support what is a small group of malcontented Tribal members who were not allowed to run in the last election because of legal and or election violations. We have begun work on a newsletter that will enumerate all of the falsehoods this group is distributing as well as the election committee's reasons for the actions it took. Also the state is withholding the $617,000 in stimulus money that was allotted to the Tribe by the STED commission. We plan to renovate a building the Tribe owns in Great Falls and build an office in Havre with an electronic link between the two allowing meeting attendance in both cities. We will detail our plan in the newsletter. If the funds are not released soon the Tribe may lose these funds, so we encourage Little Shell people to contact the governor's office at (406) 444-3111, fax (406) 444-5529, [email protected] mt.gov, or Office of the Governor, Montana State Capitol Building, P.O. Box 20080, Helena MT 59620-0801 and encourage them to release the stimulus funds. John Sinclair The Little Shell Tribal Council Approved by a majority council
