Shot fired at BIA employee

The Blaine County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shot fired Wednesday at a Bureau of Indian Affairs employee who was driving toward Harlem just west of the Milk River Bridge.

Ralph Page, a BIA rangeland management specialist, reported that someone in a passing car fired a shotgun at his vehicle about 12:10 p.m., shattering the driver's side window of the pickup, Blaine County Undersheriff Pat Pyette said this morning. Page was not injured in the shooting.

Page reported that the vehicle was a gray car, but could not get its license number.

"He couldn't even tell me how many people were in the car," Pyette said.

Pyette said the incident is under investigation, but no suspects or motivation is known at this time.

"I've been here nine years. It's never happened before," he said, adding, "I think it's just a random deal."

He said anyone with information about the shooting can call the Blaine County Sheriff's Office at 357-3260.
