North Stars win three

After a lengthy home stand and some weather issues, the Havre American Legion baseball team took to the road this weekend.

And at the Gallatin Valley Tournament in Three Forks, the North Stars picked up three wins in five games. The North Stars played five times over the course of three days, beating Lewistown 5-3, Butte 10-0 and Glendive 4-3. Havre's losses came against host Gallatin Valley (7-2) and perennial Class A powerhouse the Bitteroot Red Sox (9-5).

The win over Lewistown was the fourth this season for the North Stars when facing the Redbirds. Havre also beat the Butte Muckers, Butte's Class A team, for the third straight season in Three Forks, while its victory against Glendive on Sunday avenged a loss to the Blue Devils at last weekend's North Star Memorial Tournament.

The North Stars also have another busy week upcoming, and they return to Northern District play.

Having played five games on the road this weekend, as well as six games in five days, the North Stars will take to the road yet again, starting on Wednesday.

Havre's six-game Canada road trip starts with a doubleheader on Wednesday in Fort MacLeod, Alberta — the site of the 2010 Northern District Tournament next month. On Thursday, the North Stars will play a pair of league games in Lethbridge, Alberta, before wrapping up the northern swing with two district games Friday in Medicine Hat.

Havre will return home for a pair of league games against the Great Falls Electrics on June

28.

After this weekend's five non-league games, the North Stars sit at 14-11 on the season.

Havre is still 5-1 in league play.
