Junior Rodeo opens the Great Northern Fair

The 2010 Great Northern Fair is underway, and opening night for the sporting events at the fair was, as usual, a big success.

As always, the annual Havre Junior Rodeo opened the five nights of sporting events, and on Wednesday night at the Great Northern Fair Arena, cowboys and cowgirls of all ages took center stage.

Over 100 participants competed in the rode which featured flag racing, barrel racing, steer riding, ribbon untying, breakaway roping, pole bending, goat tying and team roping. Competitors range din age from four years old to 18, and they came from up and down the Hi-Line.

Tylynn Rettig had a big night in the rodeo, placing in three events.

Rettig won the age 9-13 pole bending competition and the barrel racing. She also captured the age 9-13 goat tying title.
