Warburton's record doesn't serve people of area

I have been following some of the letters to the editor and personal comments in the Havre Daily News with great interest and disbelief.

The voting record of Rep. Warburton should be a sure-tell sign of not representing the people of Hill and Blaine counties. On July 6, the HDN quoted Rep. Warburton saying at a GOP rally: "If you hear anything from people about my record that doesn't sound right, give me a call." So my question Wendy is why would you vote "no" on HB 2 knowing the consequences of your no vote would hinder an institution such as Montana State University-Northern that is vital to the area? I will also remind you that almost one-third of your party in the House voted for HB 2 as did the majority of the Senate which was controlled by the GOP.

You also stated you are pro-business.

Then why did you vote "no" on the Industrial Park that I worked so hard on to acquire funding to get jobs and businesses to Havre? Even the GOP voted for that funding in the Senate Finance and Claims Committee.

You stated that you are pro-life and pro-family, and I commend you for that, but then how can you turn your back and vote "no" on the Children's Health Insurance Program and walk away from the same children who have no health insurance coverage?

You stated that you are pro-agriculture.

Then why would you vote for a bill that could cause serious damage in research of crop diseases in the state of Montana? The list goes on and on.

Rep. Warburton, in your flyer that you hand out to people door-to-door, you state, "I never forget that I work for YOU!" I would submit to you that by your actions in Helena you never did.

I will not be returning in the next session in Helena because of term limits, but I will be watching very closely on the decisions that are made down there. I want a representative and a senator whom I can trust to make the right decisions for all of us in north-central Montana, not someone with just lip service. I will be giving all my support to Dana Seidel, Jack Trethewey and Bob Bergren. These are three people who I fully trust, and they have no agenda.

They will lead this great state and the Hi-Line in the right direction.

Sincerely, Sen. Ken "Kim" Hansen Senate District 17 (Hansen is a Democrat from Harlem.)
