A one-vehicle crash north of Havre Monday left the driver of a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe dead but five passengers alive, the Montana Highway Patrol reports.

The names of the people involved in the incident were not released by the county coroner as of this morning.

The driver, a 19-year-old Havre woman, died from injuries sustained when she was thrown from the vehicle, the report said.

The crash occurred at 4:55 p.m. when the Tahoe was southbound on an agricultural road, nearly two miles east of the North Shepherd Road. The driver lost control when the vehicle came over a hill leading to a left-hand corner.

The Tahoe skidded sideways and rolled two-and-one-quarter times, coming to rest on the passenger side, the report said.

Some of the passengers also sustained injuries, although a 15-year-old North Havre boy, an 18-year-old Havre man and a 24-year-old Cut Bank man were listed as not being injured.

A 20-year-old Great Falls man was listed as with minor injuries, and a 16-year-old Havre girl as with unknown injuries.

No one in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt, the report said. Speed was listed as a factor.

Northern Montana Hospital reported this morning that the Great Falls man was a patient, listed as in stable condition. All other passengers were examined and treated at the hospital and released.
