Now is the time for pre-school immunizations

Editor: Dear Havre area parents, Summer has finally arrived. It is time to think about vacation, sun screen, bug spray, beaches, fishing, immunizations, kindergarten physicals and sports physicals. Whoa, just a minute Arlys. School just got out and doesn't start again until August. But, August days are soon filled with preschool activities including registration, school clothes and school books.

To help prevent some of the August parental stress, Bullhook Community Health Center will have its first pediatric immunization and physical day on Wednesday, July 7, from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Has your child had all the immunizations needed to start kindergarten or seventh grade?

According to Montana law children, entering kindergarten need to be current with their immunizations.

This includes the fourth diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis; the fourth polio; the third hepatitis B; and the second measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) vaccinations.

Haemophilus influenza and varicella immunizations are also recommended.

Children entering seventh grade need to have a tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis booster (Tdap).

Children who will be playing sports during the 2010-2011 school year need a sports physical. Each sports physical covers a school year, August through June.

Be ahead of the curve and call 265-4541 today to schedule your child's appointment.

Arlys Williams
