DOROTHY CURFMAN obituary

Dorothy Helen Curfman, 83, died Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at Northern Montana Hospital. Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2010, at the Gildford Baptist Church, with Pastor Eddie Fallo officiating. A fellowship luncheon will be held immediately after the service. Her burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Highland Cemetery in Havre, Mont. Memorial contributions in Dorothy's honor may be made to the First Baptist Church, Gildford, Mont., or to a charity of one's choice. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. Dorothy was born July 3, 1926, at Bridger, Mont., to Fred and Margaret Gruel. She graduated from Belfry High School, attended Billings Business College and worked as a secretary for the railroad in Belfry. Dorothy married Lloyd Curfman on March 7, 1945, at the First Baptist Church in Billings, Mont. In the early years of their marriage, Dorothy and Lloyd lived 18 miles north of Gildford, farming from spring through fall. During the winter they lived and worked in Havre, Billings, Belfry and Powell, Wyo. In 1954, Dorothy and Lloyd moved from the farm to Gildford and made their home there until present. Dorothy was a humble, full-of-life person, who was an active partner in the family farm. Dorothy could turn hard times into a joy and a sandwich into a banquet. She loved her family, her many friends, kids of all sizes and making things grow. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Margaret Gruel; her sister, Betty Wilson; and brothers Warren Gruel and Don Gruel. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Lloyd Curfman; her sons, Larry (Marilyn) Curfman of Richland, Wash., and Darryl Curfman of Bozeman, Mont.; her, daughter Sandra Brown of Havre, Mont.; her grandchildren, John (Emily) Brown Jr. Of Havre, Mont., Dana Brown of Missoula, Mont., and Travis Brown of Havre, Mont.; her great-grandchildren, Abigail Brown and Kaiana Brown Bernhardt; and her sister, Norma Vaughn of Billings, Mont.
