Water making golfers wait some in Havre

It may not look like at outside at times, and sometimes, it may not even feel like it, but golf season has come to the Hi-Line.

League golf is underway at Prairie Farms Golf Course, and high school spring tournaments are wrapping up around the area. Courses are gearing up for a big summer, and several tournaments have already been played, including the fund raiser for the Havre Wrestling Club, which was held at Prairie Farms two weeks ago.

However, mother nature still has a say in how much golf can be played in the area. As of this morning, Beaver Creek Golf Course was still closed for play due to Beaver Creek still spilling out of its banks along the course. The creek, which borders holes No. 6, No.

5, No. 3, No. 1 and No. 9 has wreaked havoc with the course in recent weeks, and while flood predictions have lessened in the last few days, there are still flood warnings out for Hill County, and the water is expected to continue to rise somewhat through Wednesday night because of rains that are moving through the Havre area today and tonight.

Golf is being played at Prairie Farms now.

Tuesday night men's league action saw Trent Normandy fire a 3-under-par 33 to take home low gross honors. Normandy also shot a 33 to earn low gross on Wednesday night. Women's league is also underway. The most recent women's league action reported saw Stacey Sheppard earn low gross honors and Dixie Evans take home low net. Women's league runs every Thursday night through the summer at Prairie Farms.
