Sheila M. Pickett

Sheila M. Pickett, 58, of Scotia, N.Y., succumbed to her courageous battle with cancer and passed away on Wednesday at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Sheila was born in Havre, Mont., on Sept. 11, 1952, the daughter of Phillip and Carol Collishaw Larsen. She graduated from Rudyard High School, Class of 1970. She attended college in Rapid City, S.D., where she met the love of her life, Ron Pickett. They were married June 30, 1973, in Rudyard, Mont. The couple then returned to Ron's hometown Schenectady to raise a family. Sheila worked for the Office of Mental Health and Community Service of Schenectady County as the assistant to the director for 33 devoted years. Sheila was a loving and caring homemaker to her family, she gave selflessly and with all her heart. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling to the casinos.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 37 years, Ron; loving sons, Mickey Pickett and his fiancée, Desirée Watson, of Rotterdam, and Adam Pickett and his wife Amy, of Smithsburg, Md .; cherished mother, Carol Larsen, of San Diego, Calif .; adoring granddaughter, Alyssa Pickett; sisters, Sandra Larsen (Denise Tanner), of San Diego, Calif., Susan Haaland (Willie) of Sunnyvale, Calif .; brothers, Ron Larsen (Laura Lee), of Rudyard, Mont., Larry Larsen (Carolyn), of San Clara, Calif., and Michael Larsen (Claudette), of Yucca Valley, Calif .; mother-in-law, Wanda Picket; and many nieces and nephews.

The Pickett family would like to extend a special thank-you to the nursing staff on C-2 at the Glendale Home and C-4 at Ellis Hospital for their care and support shown to Sheila and our family.

Services were held Saturday, at noon, at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Street, with Pastor Dugan officiating.
