Darryn Daniel "Bubba" Brandt
Darryn Daniel "Bubba" Brandt passed away from complications of diabetes on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at Northern Montana Hospital in Havre.
Memorial services will be 11 a. m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Havre. Burial of ashes will be at 2 p. m. at the Rudyard Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Rockman Funeral Chapel in Chester.
Darryn was born on July 16, 1963, in Chester, Mont., to Robert and Katherine (Langel) Brandt. He was baptized and confirmed at Hingham Lutheran Church. He attended school in Rudyard and was in the last graduating class of the Rudyard Panthers in 1981.
While in high school, he played football for the Panther team. In the early '80s he played softball and was a proud member of the Daily's Dog Bones team. He also helped in the harvest fields for various people. Following high school, he attended Northern Montana College in Havre, pursuing a degree in construction technology. He was a member of the Student Senate and served as president for a term. College activities also included being a DJ for KNMC, the college radio station, something he greatly enjoyed. He also worked at the food service there for many years, which provided him many stories to tell.
He moved back to Rudyard to help with the mail route. He also helped his Mom in the grocery store. Whenever you saw Darryn driving around, his faithful dog, "Chuck, " was with him.
Later he returned to Havre and worked as a customer service rep at Advantage Line (and later, Call Solutions). He also worked as a checkout person at Wal-Mart, another job which he greatly enjoyed until complications from diabetes made it no longer possible. After going on dialysis, many of the people there became his good friends, and the nurses who cared for him there were very special to him.
Darryn was a history buff and read all he could, especially enjoying World War I and World War II history. He was an avid movie fan, and could answer almost any question you could throw at him about movies. He was a huge John Wayne fan as well. His life revolved around reading and writing.
Darryn loved to cook. He made the best French toast and his cheesecakes were wonderful. Probably his greatest pleasure was going hunting when he was able, which, as with all hunters make for great stories — true or not! He was quite the storyteller and had the talent of being able to visit with almost anyone. His quick wit and unique sense of humor will be remembered by all.
Darryn was preceded in death by his father, Robert in 1996; and his niece, Becky Henry, in 2007.
He is survived by his mother, Katherine, of Rudyard; his sisters, Marilyn (Bill) Henry of Havre, and Karen (Dave) Watson of Rudyard; his brothers Bob of Clinton, Clyde (Toni) of Havre, Gary of Great Falls, and Jim (Theresa) of Great Falls; six nieces and four nephews.
Memorials may made be made to Northern Montana Hospital Dialysis Unit in Havre or to a charity of one's choice.
