Breaking news: Rolf Groseth named MSU-Billings chancellor

BILLINGS (AP) — A more than 30-year employee of Montana State University and its campuses has been named chancellor of Montana State University-Billings.

Rolf Groseth succeeds Ron Sexton, who retired in August after serving as chancellor at MSU-Billings since 1995. Groseth was named interim chancellor in July.

Groseth served as acting chancellor at Montana State University-Northern for 18 months, prior to the selection of Frank Trocki as permanent chancellor last year.

MSU President Waded Cruzado announced Groseth's appointment Monday. She says he has a proven track record of dedication to Montana State University and its units across the state.

Groseth says he is honored by the appointment.

Groseth worked in student affairs at MSU from 1997 to 1994 and was executive assistant to MSU's president from 1994 to 2004. He also served as vice president for intercampus affairs at MSU in Bozeman and was interim chancellor at MSU-Northern in Havre from January 2008 to August 2009.
