Havre-to-Denver flight sales still going strong in third week

Two weeks into Great Lakes flying to and from Denver out of the Havre City-County Airport, flights are going strong, with many more tickets selling than when flights only went to Billings.

In the past two weeks, 63 passengers have flown to Denver, more than would fly to Billings in an entire month before the change.

This week alone has 25 passengers flying to Denver and 21 people flying into Havre.

Thursday's flights are about one-third booked and Friday's flights are about half-booked, on a plane with 30 seats.

Jim Lyons, the manager at the airport, said that these numbers are about about twice what they were before the change in service on Nov. 1.

Though Lyons was focused this morning on the effects of the recent weather on flights, he is optimistic about the situation.

"We're doing really great," Lyons said.

The airline that brought the change, Great Lakes Airlines, is also happy about the results of the change so far.

"It looks like the numbers are up for this month," Kassi Mohlenkamp, regional sales manager for Great Lakes Airlines, said. "We're hoping that for the winter season we can continue to keep it up. Hopefully the numbers keep growing."
