Chippewa Cree to hand out Thanksgiving baskets

The Chippewa Cree Tribe will give out Thanksgiving turkey baskets to the Rocky Boy residents and enrolled members on Monday, beginning at 9 a.m., at the Old Senior Citizens Center.

Deliveries will only be made to all residents within the reservation boundaries. All others will be required to pick up their basket.

Tribal officials would prefer that people wait for baskets to be delivered to your home rather than picking it up on site.

Havre residents who are enrolled members must also come to the distribution site to receive their basket and present a verification of residency, which can include a piece of mail with a Havre address and their tribal identification.

Please do not send anyone to pick up your basket for you. We do not want to be responsible for any misrepresentation.

Tribal representatives will be delivering 250 baskets to enrolled members living in Great Falls on Monday at the War Shield Development office building located at; 300 2nd Ave. South, beginning at 11 a.m. Great Falls residents will be required to show a tribal identification before being given a basket and distribution is on a first come first served basis.

There will be sign-in sheets for verification of all baskets distributed. and everyone is required to sign and verify they have received their gift.

People are asked not to send someone to pick up their basket. It will not be allowed due to incidents and confusion this has caused in the past. The tribe is offering this as a gesture to assist all our tribal members for the holidays and to ensure all our children are able to enjoy a Happy Thanksgiving with their families.

Cooperation is greatly appreciated. For more information contact, Morris St.Pierre or Earl Arkinson at; 395-4478.
