Concert association brings ballet for the holidays

Havre-area residents have a chance to see world-class dancing with a holiday theme Saturday, as the Northern Showcase Concert Association brings the Rocky Mountain Ballet Company.

The company, formed in 1998, has toured Montana, across the United States and internationally.

The international tours include performing in Italy and twice in China, including this September, and performing in two collaborations with the Moscow Ballet including this November in Missoula.

The company is scheduled to tour Austria and Russia in 2011.

The holiday tour, Montana Holiday Spectacular, will include selections such as "Winter Wonderland," "The March of the Wooden Soldiers," "Carol of the Bells," "I'll Be Home for Christmas" and Rocky Mountain Ballet selections including "Montana Bonanza Medley," "Big Sky Wheatfields" and "Lumber Number."

The show comes in the middle of the Northern Showcase Concert Association season. Spencer Bohren already presented his historical blues presentation, and Jason Coleman paid tribute to his legendary grandfather in "Legacy of Floyd Cramer."

The season continues next year with the Montana musical comedy show of Singing Sons of Beaches on Feb. 26, the classical music concert Baroque and Brahms on April 14, and the Montana country music of the Tim Ryan Band on April 26.

Saturday's ballet performance begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Havre High School auditorium. For people who do not have a Northern Showcase Concert Association season ticket, prices are $20 for adults and $15 for students, with free admission with a valid Montana State University-Northern identification card.

Tickets are on sale in advance at the student information desk at Northern.
