Flags ordered to half-staff to honor slain trooper

HELENA (AP) — Gov. Brian Schweitzer has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff on Tuesday to honor a Montana trooper shot to death outside Three Forks.

David DeLaittre died Wednesday in an apparent shootout after the trooper stopped to investigate a truck parked in the middle of a rural road in southwestern Montana.

Authorities say the body of the alleged shooter, Errol Brent Bouldin, was found hours later in the truck about 35 miles north.

Funeral services for DeLaittre will be held Tuesday at Three Forks High School. State officials say they are expecting as many as 2,000 people to attend.
