Car collides with Amtrak train; no known injuries

HAVRE (AP) — A car has collided with an Amtrak train in north-central Montana, but no injuries have been reported.

Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari says the collision happened at about 4:50 p.m. Thursday, east of Havre in Blaine County. He says a car drove across the tracks, which were marked, and collided with the train.

Magliari says there was no significant damage and the train was delayed an hour and 15 minutes.

The sheriff's office said the Montana Highway Patrol was handling the accident. There was no answer at the number for the district office.

Magliari says the train is called the Empire Builder and was headed east on the route that runs from Seattle and Portland, Ore., to Chicago.
