Montana group plans icy plunge into Missouri River

HELENA (AP) — A group of two dozen people plan to begin the new year by taking an icy plunge into the frigid waters of the Missouri River in western Montana.

The chilly tradition in the small town of Craig, north of Helena, started about a decade ago when Uncle Joe's Craig Bar owner Joe Duvall and some friends jumped into the river on a dare.

Now, it's an annual tradition.

Duvall says around 20 people usually make the leap, and many more come just to watch the group plunge into the freezing cold waters.
