Paul Carl Schwan

Paul Carl Schwan, 84, died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, of natural causes at Northern Montana Care Center.

His rosary and funeral Mass will be Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, with the rosary being said at 1:45 p. m. and his funeral service beginning 2 p. m., all at Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Paul's honor may be made to the Diabetes Association, Montana Chapter, 3203 3rd Ave. N. Suite 203, Billings, MT 59101. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.

Paul was born March 7, 1927, at the family homestead in Goldstone, Mont., to Anton and Julianna Schwan. He was one of 16 children. His parents had homesteaded north of Rudyard. Paul worked on the family farm until he was drafted for the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He was honorably discharged and returned home to Goldstone. Paul worked on the farm for many years. He moved to Havre and began work for the city of Havre until he retired.

Paul was a 53-year member of the Knights of Columbus and was a third-degree knight.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Andrew, Jack, Anton, Frank, Joseph, Bernard and an infant brother, Peter Schwan; his sisters, Eva Falla, Mary Hall, Sister Antonita Schwan, Julia Schwan, Tillie Miller, Aggie Sherman and Theresa Houim.

Paul is survived by his sister, Pauline Lauepple of Havre, Mont., and many nieces and nephews.
