Richard Albert Rock, 62, of Box Elder died of an apparent heart attack on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011, at Northern Montana Hospital in Havre.

His service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at 11 a. m. at Rocky Boy Lutheran Church with Russell Standing Rock officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Boy Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.

Richard was born to Ed and Mary (Smith) Rock on May 8, 1949. He attended school in Box Elder, Eastern Montana College and Haskell Junior College.

Richard was a self-employed artist. He worked as a cameraman at a TV station in Missoula and had numerous other jobs. He was the best powwow grassdancer ever.

Richard enjoyed hand game, traveling the powwow circuit, casinos, music and drawing.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Mary Rock; brothers, Fred Bacon and John Rock; sister, Josephine Weiss; and grandson Jaylon Limberhand.

He is survived by his wife, Rosalie Eastman of Spokane, Wash; daughter, Sidryn Sam of Omok, Wash. ; step-daughters, Zolita Eastman, Liane Eastman, Sara Eastman and Norma Mae Ward, all of Spokane, Wash. ; sons, Kai Rock, of Rocky Boy, Mont., Kyle Sam of Omok, Wash., Adrian Rock of Texas, and Austin Rock of New Mexico; brothers, Elbert Rock of Santa Monica, Calif., Rusty Gopher and Robert Gopher, both of Rocky Boy, Mont., Giles Bullshield, of Sitsika, Canada, and Virgil Chase, Corky Clairmont and Pat Chierfstick of Pablo, Mont. ; Wayne Garcia of Soboba, Calif., and many others; sisters, Emma Rock, Kathleen Gopher, Linda Gopher, Bonnie Meyers, Pearl Whitford, Barbara Raining Bird, Myrtle Raining Bird, Janis (Lawrence) Raining Bird-Meyers and many others.
