Republic not the same as democracy

I can't take it anymore! All this crap about will of the people. We don't live in a democracy, at least at the federal level of government. In spite of what you might think or even what the president says, we are a constitutional republic. The word "democracy" does not appear in the text of the U. S. Constitution or any of the 50 states that make up our republic. Some political scientists give our republican form of government the sub-category of a representative democracy. I have found it to be almost a 50/50 split on "yes we are a representative democracy" and "no we are not."
