Support for Gregg Carlson

Editor:

I am writing this letter in regard to the tremendous support shown by your community for Gregg Carlson and his family. I do not know Gregg personally but, have met a close friend of his as well as followed the CaringBridge website updating his progress.

For those of you who are not aware of this site, I strongly urge you to log on. Just log onto www.CaringBridge.com, and the site will lead you thru the necessary steps. I became familiar with it a few years ago when Sgt. Corey Briest of Yankton, S.D., was seriously hurt with a brain injury while fighting in Iraq in 2005. To date his site has had over 322,512 hits. The site was also used by a niece of mine after delivering her son with serious complications. And, once again used by her family as he was the recipient of a kidney transplant from his grandfather.

The free website is made possible through donations, and it is your way to communicate, show support, hope and compassion by signing the guest book.

The family updates the patient's progress as well as displays a photo gallery. This is a lifeline not only for the family and friends, but a support system from caring individuals around the world. Every day is a challenge, and just your taking a few minutes to let them know you are thinking about them can brighten a difficult day.

This weekend a benefit is to be held at the Harve Ice Dome on Sunday, April 3, from 1-5 p. m. to help the Carlson family with expenses. Countless volunteers and family have asked individuals, businesses and organizatons for donations, as well as media coverage.

The recent article in the Havre Daily News tells of the major accomplishments Gregg has done for your area. He apparently touched many lives, and now it is your turn to help him by supporting this benefit as well as writing a letter of support to name the Research Center in his honor.

Please take the time Sunday to attend this worthy cause. You who have given so generously are to be commended for the caring community you live in!

Thank you,

Donna Arens, Hartington, Neb.
