BOX ELDER — Lloyd James Cleland, 62, died Monday, Aug. 1, 2011, at his home in Box Elder, Mont., after a battle with heart complications.

His wake service was Monday with his funeral service at 10 a. m. Tuesday, all at the Rocky Boy Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Rocky Boy Cemetery.

Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.

Lloyd was born June 10, 1949, at Fort Belknap Agency to Virginia and William LaMere. He was raised and educated on the Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation. He attended Rocky Boy, Box Elder and Flandreau schools. He worked for the Cascade County Health Department in the Sanatation Division. He retired in 2004 after working there for 32 years.

Lloyd enjoyed playing bingo, attending powwows, visiting with people and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons.

Lloyd is survived by his daughter, Donna (Sonny) Raining Bird, Box Elder, Mont. ; sons, Keith Allen (Jewel) Laverdure, Great Falls, Mont. ; Lloyd James (Manz) Cleland Jr., Rocky Boy, Mont. ; and Michael Lee Cleland, Great Falls; sisters: Eleanor Skinner, Joann Ahenakew and Wilma "Corky" Corcoran, all of Rocky Boy; Kay (Jim) Finley, Arlee, Mont. ; and Virgelene (J. R.) Raya, Great Falls; brothers, Frances Cleland, Butte, Mont. ; Ricky Cleland, Billings, Mont. ; William LaMere, Great Falls; Danny LaMere, Missoula, Mont. ; and David LaMere.
