NAIA Wrestling Update: Lights struggle early

The first session of the 2011 NAIA wrestling national champions didn't go well for the Montana State University-Northern wrestling team. The Lights advanced just four of 10 wrestlers into the winner's bracket for session two, and scored just 13 total points this monring in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.The 8th-ranked Lights are currently tied for 10th place.

Northern got wins from top seeded Anthony weerheim and Evan Hinebauch, as well as senior tay Todd and freshman Cameron Neiss. Brandon Leliefeld also won a pigtail match this morning, but surprise losses included Jared Miller, Max Payne and heavyweight Rudy Schaffroth. Both Payne and Schaffroth were nationally-ranked coming into today's opening round.
