Hi-Line districts pass levies and elect trustees

Voters in school districts across the Hi-Line handily passed levies and elected members to their boards of trustees.

Harlem

For the Harlem school districts, voters chose two new trustees from five candidates. Julia M. Doney and Michele Lewis won, with 133 votes and 136 votes respectively.

Turner

In Turner, the two trustee candidates, Johannas W. Brown and Kurtis B. Welsh, ran unopposed.

Two levies passed: a $48,934.84 high school general fund levy by 44 to 27 votes, and a $21,206.61 elementary general fund levy by 48 to 24 votes.

Chinook

Chinook's three trustee candidates, Ernest S. Johnson, Scott Gunderson and Pauly B. Miller, ran unopposed.

The three levies up for vote passed: a $40,208.29 high school general fund levy by 216 to 111 votes, a $28,083.31 elementary general fund levy by 168 to 68 votes and a five-year $40,000 per-year elementary building reserve levy by 166 to 69 votes.

Box Elder

Box Elder schools were seeking two trustees from three candidates. Winners Connie J. Morsette and Joseph D. Rosette Jr. received 51 and 45 votes respectively. Christine Jilot received 28 votes.

Rocky Boy

In the Rocky Boy School District, nine candidates sought two positions.

Incumbent Martin Parker won the second-most votes, with 53 and newcomer Russell Standing Rock came first with 62 votes, beating incumbent Board President Joseph Lafromboise Jr. 's 31 votes.

North Star

North Star's one levy, a $93,312.79 high school general fund levy, passed 172 to 57.

Davey

Davey School had one unopposed trustee, Fred Davey, reclaim his seat. The district delayed its approximately $22,000 mill levy election until June 7.

Chester/Joplin-Inverness

C/J-I schools passed both of their mill levies: a $105,642.33 elementary mill levy by 423 to 304 votes and a $31,892.18 high school mill levy by 454 to 311.

Cottonwood

The Cottonwood district ran two levies, both $13,312. On the elementary side the levy passed 26 to 18. For the high school, the vote was 24 to 20.
