Breaking Sports: Rocky Boys falls to Wolf Point

The Rocky Boy Stars had a berth in the Northern B championship game in their sights. But Wolf Point's Mechiah Zilkoski had other ideas. The Stars had a 45-42 lead over the top-ranked wolves with 1:02 left to play in Friday night's Northern B semifinal in Shelby, but Zilkoski made two 3-pointers in the final 54 seconds to lift the top-ranked Wolves to a 49-47 win. The Stars had a chance to win down one point with :27 left on the clock, but two shots mised the mark, sending Rocky Boy into Saturday morning's loser-out game against Malta, Kirby Lafromboise scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Rocky Boy fell to 19-4 on the season. The Stars have a chance to challenge for a state tournament berth if they come back and place third, and Wolf Point wins Saturday night's championship game. The unbeaten Wolves will face Shelby, which beat Cut Bank 52-49 in Saturday's second semifinal, in Saturday's championship game.
