People had the chance Thursday to preview the main event and experience traditional Native American culture and hospitality at the annual youth powwow at Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation.

Hundreds of people attended the celebration to watch the youth event, traditionally held the day before the main powwow starts. Children 2 to 17 danced at the youth powwow, with the grand entry at 6:30 p. m.

A youth walk was held before the powwow, from Mary's Market to the powwow grounds, and a community feed began before the grand entry.

The main event, a major stop in the national powwow circuit, begins tonight and runs through Sunday.

The annual Rocky Boy Pow-Wow is set to start with the grand entry scheduled for 7 p. m. tonight. The grand entries scheduled Saturday are for 1 and 7 p. m.

People attending the powwow will be able to see top-level competition in Native American dancing, with dancers in full regalia, as well as other events like stick game tournaments and singing contests.
