MSU-Northern sports will be seen by many

The Frontier Conference is going to be seen by many this fall and winter, thanks to the Internet.

Earlier this week, Frontier Conference commissioner Kent Paulson announced that the conference-wide Webcast Sports Initiative will bring all athletic events at each member school to the web for viewing by fans far and wide for free for the 2011-2012 season.

Teaming up with Lyon Productions, the athletic departments at Carroll College, University of Great Falls, Montana State-Northern, UM-Western, Rocky Mountain College, Montana Tech, Eastern Oregon University, Lewis-Clark State College and Westminster College are prepared to show the entire world the quality of athletic and academic programs that exist here in the Northwest.

"Our vision of bringing every sport to every fan, world-wide, is being realized," Paulson said. "Our package of web casts include every sport, and is another example of how the Frontier Conference is leading the NAIA."

The web casts for football and men's and women's basketball are being developed as if they were telecasts, with TV time-outs and full-commercial support, enabling the entire spectrum of sports to be webcast throughout the season. Additionally, five football games will be broadcast on the CW stations, both over-the-air and on cable systems throughout Montana.

For the Lights and Skylights, this means fans will be able to watch their teams when they are on the road, as well as that former Havre residents and alumni will be able to follow Northern sports like they never have before.

The first webcast for Northern football will be on Sept. 3, when the Lights open their season at home against the UM-Western Bulldogs.
