As flood levels continue to rise and more rain seems to be in the forecast, golf along the Hi-Line certainly has been affected.
Courses around the area are wet, and there has been some flooding along Beaver Creek reported at Beaver Creek Golf Course.
However, golf leagues in Havre have been finding ways to get their rounds in for the most part, despite this seemingly difficult transition from spring to summer.
At Prairie Farms, Men's League completed both nights last week. On Tuesday night, Hi-Way Bar scored a whopping 25.5 points to earn high team for the night. Brett Normandy shot a two-over par 37 to take home low-gross honors and Denny Lammerding was low net with a 29.5. Hole 19 leads Korb Construction by just a half point in the Tuesday night standings as the season edges towards the halfway point.
Last Wednesday night saw Independence Bank score 21.5 points to take home high team for the evening. Jeff Jensen, Jim Kato and Greg Munson all shot even-par rounds of 36 to share low gross, while Christian Oberquell scored a 29.5 for low net. Independence Bank is in first place in the Wednesday night standings.
Weather has played a factor in the start of the Ladies League at Prairie Farms. The first night of league play was wiped out due to rain, and last Thursday saw all teams complete five holes before the round was called off. The remaining holes were split for the night, and as a result, D.A. Davidson earned high-team honors with 22.5 points. The team is composed of Shari Baltrusch, Stacey Sheppard, Paula Sheppard and Patsy Divish.
The Havre Women Fighting Breast Cancer Golf Tournament will be held at Prairie Farms on July 30. The tourney is a 3-woman, 9-hole scramble limited to 22 teams. Entry forms are available at the course or by calling 265-6121. The tourney is accepting any and all cash donations or pin prizes. Please mail them to 1195 16th St. or call 265-6121 to arrange for someone to pick them up.
