Breaking News: Havre pedestrian killed in collision with car on Hwy 87

State police are investigating the death of a 20-year-old pedestrian who was hit by a car outside of Havre.

The young man either walked or ran in front of an oncoming vehicle at about 4 a.m. Saturday on Highway 87 near Havre. The driver told police he swerved but was unable to avoid the pedestrian, who died at the scene.

Police have not identified the victim, who is from Havre, or the driver, a 35-year-old man from Washington state.

The Montana Highway Patrol says the fatal collision is still under investigation.
