The local concert association is doubling its presentations in the next two weeks, bringing a special program of a tribute band Tuesday followed by its regularly scheduled show of a Montana comedy-music show two weeks later.

Northern Showcase Concert Association is holding a special concert with Imagine, a Beatles tribute band, Tuesday at 7:30 p. m. in the Havre High School auditorium.

The California-based band, since forming in 1993, has toured with many groups and entertainers including the Beach Boys, Jay Leno, the Temptations, Chicago, Badfinger, America, the Mandrells, the Shirelles, and the Buckinghams, a press release announcing the show says.

Their shows have included performing on national television during a SugarBowl halftime show in New Orleans. They have performed across the United States to Australia, New Zealand, China and Central America.

The special concert is $20 for adults and $10 for students. Tickets are on sale at the information desk at the Student Union Building at Montana State University-Northern.

The next show in the 2010-11 season is Singing Sons of Beaches, a Montana trio that presents political satire and humor along with their music. That show starts at 7:30 p. m. in the SUB Ballroom, Saturday, Feb. 26, with a special setting planned. The show will be held in a "pub" atmosphere. A no-host bar featuring beer, wine and snacks will be available.

The concert will kick off the official start of the second half of the Northern Showcase Concert Association. Admission will be free for season ticket holders, with single tickets sold at $15 for adults and $10 for students. There is no admission for Northern students with a student identification card.

The final two concerts of the season, which also includes admission to one Montana Actors' Theatre production with a season ticket, will be Baroque and Brahms April 14 at First Lutheran Church at 7:30 p. m. and the Tim Ryan Band April 26 at HHS at 7:30 p. m.

Baroque and Brahms features a trio performing a variety of selections including solo and duo works for the horn, violin and organ or piano.

The final concert features country selections by a musician who has written selections for artists such as Phil Vassar, Deana Carter and Randy Travis, as well as himself. Tim Ryan also wrote the title track for George Straits' "Somewhere Down in Texas. "

His band also includes Mission Mountain Wood Band members Rob Quist and Christian Johnson.
