Havre has a bicycle theft problem

Editor:

I have lived in Havre for many years now, but currently at my new address, it seems that thieves cannot get enough of taking my children's bicycles. In the past three years, I have lived at the same address, and it seems that we are a target for bicycle thieves.

Myself, I have only lost one bike here, a green freestyle that I put together for myself recreationally. I purchased for my son a Jargon Tony Hawk special edition bicycle ... value $179.99. It was a birthday present for his 10th birthday, stolen from in front of the library three years ago.

For my middle daughter, a mongoose freestyle girl's bike, purple in color valued at $119.99, stolen from in front of my house two years ago.

My youngest daughter lost two, both birthday presents, first, a next girls slumber party bike, with a backpack on the handlebars, valued at $59.99 — stolen two years ago.

The second, a Mongoose Outer Limit, red in color purchased for my daughter's birthday three months ago, stolen June 12 between the hours of 3 a.m. and 8 a.m. Value $89.99.

I know that it is nobody's problem but my own, but it kills my children when they get up in the morning and find that someone in this small town has their property and no one is doing anything about it.

I have reported it to the police, but nothing has come of it, bicycles get stolen every day, and they have other projects to take care of. They are doing their best. Well, there it is, 'nuff said.
