It's the middle of summer, and for many of Havre's youths, the baseball and softball season is nearing its completion.
And this weekend at the Sixth Avenue Memorial Softball Field, one more league will crown a city champion. By Sunday evening, the Havre Girls Fastpitch Association will have a B-League champion as the city tournament runs all weekend long.
The B-League tournament will get under way on Friday night with two first-round games. At 7 p.m., Northwest Energy will square off against Barkus Home Center and at 8:30 p.m. Lions will face Chinook.
Railroad Pagers finished first in the regular season standings and has a bye in the first round of this weekend's tournament. The Pagers will face the winner of the Northwest Energy/Barkus game on Saturday 10 a.m. The winner of that game will take on the Chinook/Lions winner at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. There are also two loser-out games scheduled for Saturday, one at 11:45 a.m. and another at 3:15 p.m.
The B-League tournament continues Sunday with the third-place game at 1 p.m. and the championship tilt at 3 p.m. The "if necessary" game would be played at 5 p.m.
All of the B-League tournament action will take place at the Sixth Avenue Memorial Softball Field in Havre.
