Local Golf Report: Rotary Camp coming in July

Flooding has affected golf courses across Montana, and once again, Havre wasn't spared.

Early last week, Beaver Creek spilled out of its banks for the second straight year, and as a result, parts of Beaver Creek Golf Course were inundated with flood waters. As of last week, parts of the first, second, eighth and ninth holes had flood waters covering them, but waters have started to recede in recent days. Still, with more rain in the forecast for the coming weeks, it looks like golf on the Hi-Line will still be wet and soggy.

In men's league play at Prairie Farms last Tuesday, rains forced the cancellation of the round. This week marks the final week of the first of the regular season at Prairie.

Last Wednesday night Valley Furniture score 22 points to earn high-team honors. Kyle Sheppard and Trent Normandy each shot one-over par 37's to earn low gross, while Roy Kelly was low net with a 28.

In Ladies League last Thursday, Northern Montana Hospital scored a whopping 28 points to earn high team for the evening. Patti Nault, Carol Culp, Terri Earl and Kim Klein composed the team. Mary Ann McLean scored a 45 for low gross and Lindsey Kellam was low net with a 29.

On the tournament scene, this weekend marks the always-fun Natalie Patrick Memorial Tournament at Prairie Farms.

Meanwhile, next month, the Rotary Kids Golf Camp returns to Prairie Farms. The camp runs from July 5-7 and is open to ages 8 and up. The camp runs each day from 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m. To sign up, or for more information, call the Prairie Farms Pro Shop at 265-4790.
