Skylights sign star Saco-Whitewater point guard

Basketball recruiting season is in full swing, and the Montana State University-Northern women's basketball team recently landed a solid recruit from just down U.S. Highway 2.

MSU-Northern head coach Chris Mouat recently announced the signing of 5-8 Saco-Whitewater guard Macey Cox, who will join the Skylights next fall.

Cox is a standout point guard and shooter who led the Panthers to the Class C state championship last month as they defeated Harlowtown-Ryegate 38-37 in the state title game. Her junior year, the Panthers also went to the state championship game before falling to Fairview.

"We have watched Macey for years and she is as competitive as they come," Mouat said. "She plays extremely hard and she hates to lose. She has played for a very successful high school program and has been well-coached along the way."

Cox is a three-time all-conference selection and was a Class C All-State pick this past season as she averaged 11.7 points per game for the Panthers.

"Macey has really improved her perimeter shooting over the past two seasons," Mouat said. "She hit three early 3-point field goals in an opening round win over Belt at the state tournament with a lot of confidence. We are excited about her future here.

Cox is the daughter of Clinton and Denise Cox.
