The MSU-Northern volleyball team celebrates a 5-set win over nationally-ranked UGF Friday night at the MSU-Northern Fieldhouse.
Things went from bright to bleak for the Montana State University-Northern volleyball team. But in front of a roaring homecoming crowd Friday night at the MSU-Northern Fieldhouse, the Skylights seized control of first place in the Frontier Conference by ousting arch rival, the University of Great Falls in a five-set thriller.
Northern quickly stormed to a 2-0 lead before the 25th-ranked Argos won two straight sets to force a fifth and decisive game. And in the final game, the Skylights went on 4-1 run to seize momentum and win the set 15-11. Northern won the first two sets by scores of 25-23 and 25-21 before losing the next two to the Argos by scores of 25-17 and 25-16.
Hillary Isleifson had 12 kills and Paige Richardson added eight for the Skylights, who improved to 3-0 in league play and 13-4 overall. Northern is on the road next weekend at Westminster College and LC State.
