Havre Area Chamber of Commerce's Agri-Business Committee Chair Joe Von Stein says a few words about Mike Tilleman, the 2011 Ag Advocate Award recipient, at the 16th Annual Ag Appreciation Banquet at the Havre Ice Dome Saturday evening.

Tileman was lauded for his work as an advocate for area farmers.

A Zurich native, he grew up in Chinook, became a star in the National Football League and went on to own a car dealership in Havre.

In 1994, he took over the family ranch and continues to actively ranch today, said Joe Von Stein, chair of the Ag Committee.

He has been active in the community in a variety of ways, he said.

Tileman has for 34 years purchased animals from 4-H groups in Hill, Blaine, Chouteau and Phillips counties, he said.

The McIntosh were saluted for being "fixtures in the agriculture community.

They live on a farm 34 miles north of Havre where they raises "wheat, barley, peas, kids and grandkids," Von Stein said.

They have been active in community organizations ranging from the Montana State University-Northern Rodeo Club to Pheasants Forever.
