Officials should follow American values, not party values

I read the letter from Mr. Kuntz and have a problem. His main thesis is that we as Republicans have lost our way. I feel that we as Americans have lost our way. We rely on others to do a job that we do not want to do and then complain about the way it is done.

I personally feel we have way too many Republicans, Democrats, tea partyers, green partyers, and whatever partyers and not enough Americans in public office. Mr. Kuntz states that Republicans are focusing on getting rid of the incumbents in Congress. Maybe we should be looking at getting rid of all party members and electing more Americans.

When Mr. Hutton stepped up and ran for public office there seemed to be a light at the end of the tunnel. A regular, real American was running for public office. Maybe more of us should think about running for these offices instead of complaining about who is running, or finding fault with them. Then once the person is elected we must help them keep their ego in check, and hold them accountable for their actions.

I believe that our elected officials should be above reproach. They should be men and women of good character. Honest in their dealings, forthright in their actions. They are to be totally believable in every aspect of their speech and actions; people of integrity.

We as Americans need to stand up once again for what we believe and what we want in our elected officials. Instead of having career politicians we need good honest people making the decisions for the rest of us good honest Americans. These new elected officials must listen to our opinions from e-mails and phone calls and make decisions from the calls made; not just because the party said to vote a certain way.
