Windy Boy proposes blackjack to fund services

A north-central Montana legislator has proposed expanding legalized gambling in an effort to offset funding cuts to human services in the state.

Sen. Jonathan Windy Boy, D-Box Elder, requested Monday that the legislative services draft a bill authorizing blackjack tables, with the proceeds to be used to fund social services.

Windy Boy said this morning that he was told that the Republican leadership in the state is trying to cut an additional $8 million from the state's budget in that field.
