St. Pierre pleads guilty in stabbing

A Box Elder resident has pleaded guilty in U. S. District Court in Great Falls to a charge stemming from a brutal stabbing attack June 19, 2010.

Thompson Densmore St. Pierre, 21, pleaded guilty Thursday to assault with a dangerous weapon, according to a release from the U. S. Attorney for Montana.

St. Pierre faces up to 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and three years of supervised release when he is sentenced Jan. 26. He is in custody.

According to the release, St. Pierre was arrested after the victim and another resident of the house where the attack occurred identified him to law enforcement.

A witness told officers that St. Pierre had become agitated earlier that night while he, the witness and several others had been drinking. They said the victim had attacked St. Pierre's cousin. St. Pierre came up with a plan to break into the victim's residence and beat him, the witness said.

The witness said he was forced to go along with the others, and saw St. Pierre go to the house with a bottle and a hammer and kick in the door.

The victim told officers that he was awoken in the middle of the night by sounds in the house, then was startled when the light in his bedroom was turned on and he saw someone standing over him.

Two other men wearing hooded sweatshirts and with bandanas over their mouths started stabbing him, he said.

He told officers that St. Pierre was one of his attackers.

That group left the room, but two other men, then entered and attacked him again, including breaking a bottle over his head and stabbing him with it.

Another resident of the house, woken up by the noise, also identified St. Pierre as one of the attackers. He called the Rocky Boy Police Department, which responded and saw three men running from the residence and getting into a pickup, which the officers followed.

After five men got out of the pickup, officers pursued them and caught two, including St. Pierre.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated for multiple stab wounds on his upper chest and cuts to his arms, head and chest, which also caused nerve damage to one arm or hand.

Information on other suspects or defendants in the case was not available this morning.
