9C Boys Challenge Game: Box Elder 64, Big Sandy 57

The Box Elder Bears are headed to the Northern C Divisonal Tournament. And it's not just the girls. The Box Elder boys basketball team earned a trip of its own to Great Falls by defeating Big Sandy 64-57 Monday night in a District 9C boys challenge game at the Havre High gymnasium. The game was close throughout, but the Bears wnet on a 10-0 run in the final 3:50 to finally pull away from the Pioneers, who will miss out on the Northern C for the first time in six years.

Box Elder got a game-high 22 points from Jesse Ramos, while the Pioneers were led by Justin Stevens with 16 points.

Now as the official second-place team from the 9C, the Bears will join Chinook at the Northern C, starting Thursday in Great Falls. Box Elder (8-13) will face top-ranked and undefeated Winifred-Roy at 4 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.
