Breaking Sports: Skylights stun Carroll

With their backs against the wall, their season hanging in the balance, the Montana State University-Northern Skylights played their best game of the year. On Friday night at the MSU-Northern Fieldhouse, the Skylights upset No. 25 Carroll College 68-49. The game was tight most of the way, but in the final 10 minutes, Northern played nearly flawless basketball, not missing a single free throw and shooting better than 54 percent from the floor.

The Skylights took the lead at 11:08 mark in the first half and never trailed again as Samm Schermele and Courtney Blume each scored a game-high 19 points. Laramie Schwenke chipped in with nine ponts, five assists, five rebounds and a steal and she ran the MSU-N offense to perfection.

With the win, MSU-N improved to 1-3 in the Frontier Conference and 10-10 overall. It was also the second straight time they beat Carroll in Havre.
