More post office ornaments available at Chamber

A second batch of the commemorative pewter Christmas ornaments being sold by the Havre/Hill County Historic Preservation Commission have arrived, and are available at the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce office.

The preservation commission started selling ornaments this year as a fundraiser for its activities, and ordered 50 limited-edition numbered ornaments, replicas of the former post office and federal courthouse.

The first batch of ornaments sold out in three days.

The commission, at its meeting this month, decided to issue a second edition of the ornament, trying to meet the local demand.

The new ornaments, selling for $15 each, are the same replicas of the post office, but are not numbered.

The ornaments can be purchased at the Chamber office, at 130 5th Ave.

Historic preservation officer Becki Miller said the commission plans to order more ornaments for next year's issuance, once a building to be replicated is selected next fall, but will continue to keep the number small to increase the ornaments' collectible value.
